Description

Assisted living is designed for seniors who require some help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as eating, bathing, dressing, laundry, housekeeping, and taking medications. Three meals a day are offered in a central dining area. An assisted living residence can be either an assisted living home, a private residential home with 10 or fewer residents, or an assisted living center, an assisted living community with anywhere from 11 to 100 or more residents. These residential settings allow the elder to maintain a relatively high degree of independence and privacy. Staff members regularly supervise the residents and provide help with personal care where needed. Assisted living facilities also offer 24 hour emergency assistance.
